MLI Blankets or sometimes referred to as superinsulation blankets for cryogenic use minimize heat transfer through the blanket from warm surfaces into environments at very low temperatures in which liquid elements are stored. Superinsulation is not as constrained by weight but by the ability of the system to separate and limit not only radiative heat transfer but conductive heat transfer from layer to layer.
